Today is Brett's very 1st day of Preschool! Brett will be attending preschool for 1/2 of the day this year. Sending Brett to school was a ton harder then it was to send Taryn. I have seen Taryn take on bullies, make friends, and take care of herself. I knew that she would be more than fine on her own at school. Brett is another story. I've seen Brett bullied before and he runs to either me or Taryn but then he can't tell us what happened. Brett doesn't make friends easily like Taryn does. He is a super friendly and sweet boy but he lacks the words to make conversation with other children his age. I think the hardest part for me was that I had to leave my angel with people I didn't know and didn't trust yet. Brett can't tell me if anything good or bad happens to him. So I worried about something bad happening but then having no one tell me. It was hard.

Dropping Brett off went really well. I had no way to prepare him for what was going to happen that day. I was just going to drop him off and hope that he was ok with it. I had no idea what to expect but he just walked right in, found some play-dough, and started playing. It really helped my worried heart that he did not have a meltdown as we said good bye. I also had several family and friends text me throughout the day to make sure I was doing ok. It was so sweet.
Picking him up went great too. He ran to me with the biggest smile on his face. I was so relieved. His teachers told me that he had done great and that there weren't any meltdowns or issues that day. They also told me that "he is such a sweet boy." I cried dropping him off and picking him up. It was such a relief to hear that he had had such a great 1st day!

So, both of my kids go to a 1/2 day of school in the afternoons! I love them and miss them when they're gone but the time to myself helps me to re-charge, have some time for myself, and be a really great mom when they get home! So a toast....to a new chapter in life!!! (chink)
